USER AUTHENTICATION TROUBLESHOOTING SUPERBADGE UNIT SOLUTION

Updated: Aug 9

Hey Trailblazer, we are here to guide you in earning the Security Specialist Superbadge. The first step to move ahead is clearing the User Authentication Specialist Superbadge. It consists of mini super-badges, the first being the User Authentication Settings Superbadge Unit, the second being the Multi-Factor Authentication and Single Sign-On Settings Superbadge Unit and the last being the User Authentication Troubleshooting Superbadge Unit. First, you must pass the User Authentication to achieve this badge. I will help you figure out each challenge and how to clear it.

This blog consists of all three challenges of User Authentication Troubleshooting Superbadge Unit

  • Salesforce Authenticator Setup

  • Single Sign-On Troubleshooting

  • Stolen Phone

Every challenge has an outcome and hints at how to achieve it. It also consists of solving these errors, ”Challenge Not yet complete... here's what's wrong: We can't find the required users or settings preinstalled in your org. Make sure you're using the special Developer Edition org made for this superbadge located toward the top of the scenario”, “Challenge Not yet complete... here's what's wrong: We can't find the expected SAML Single Sign-On settings.” and ”Challenge Not yet complete... here's what's wrong: We don't see that you've reset Sally's password.”

Challenge 1: Salesforce Authenticator Setup

If you encounter this error please configure a special Developer Edition org that contains special configuration and sample data. Please follow  Developer Edition org with special configuration to configure Special Dev Org.

To access your Salesforce organization, follow these steps:

  • Open your Salesforce org.

  • Go to Setup and in the quick find type Users

  • In the View section click on All Users

  • Go to Wu, Sally” and Click on Edit to edit the user data.

  • Change the User Email to your Email, Scroll down, and click on the checkbox “Generate new password and notify the user immediately”.

  • Click on the Save Button.

Yes, you got a Password Reset link to your Email. Reset your password and then log in as “Wu Sally” in a new tab with the Username and password provided in your mail for “WU Sally”.

Now Authenticate the user with the Salesforce Authenticator app on your Mobile device. Check Challenge 1 after successfully logging in as a “Wu Sally” user.

Challenge 2: Single Sign-On Troubleshooting

Single sign-on (SSO) enables users to securely authenticate with multiple applications and websites by logging in only once—with just one set of credentials (username and password). With SSO, the application or website the user tries to access relies on a trusted third party (Identity provider) to verify that users are who they say they are.

To tackle this challenge please follow these steps:

  • Open your Salesforce org.

  • Click on Setup

  • In the quick find type Single Sign On.

  • Scroll down and Click on Edit.

  • Change SAML Identity Type to “Assertion contains the Federation ID from the User object”.

  • Click on Save.

  • Now in Setup search Users and click Edit for “Doerr, Malcolm”.

  • Scroll down and copy the Federation ID.

  • For the Recipient URL click on “Axiom SSO Test” in Single Sign-on settings.

  • Copy the Login URL and paste it into the Recipient URL.

  • Now login from the Axiom site and check challenge 2 after successful login into your org.

Challenge 3: Stolen Phone

When attempting to address the third challenge, Stolen Phone we encounter the following errors in our efforts to resolve it.

  • Go to setup and search for Users

  • Click Edit on Wu, Sally user, and click on Disconnect.

  • Now click on Generate and copy the One Time Password to your email.

  • Reset the password for “Wu Sally” and paste the code you copied earlier after clicking the reset password link sent in your mail.

Now check the last challenge, you have completed all your super badges. Congratulations!
