In the fast-paced world of sales and commerce, effective communication is key. For businesses to succeed, they must be able to provide their potential clients with clear and professional quotes. Quote templates play a vital role in this process, streamlining the creation of accurate, consistent, and visually appealing quotes. In this blog, we will delve into the world of quote templates and explore how to elevate their functionality using sections in Salesforce CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote)

What is a Quote Template?

A quote template is a document used by sellers to communicate the prices of the goods or services requested by a buyer. It is usually sent to a potential customer after an initial request for a quotation.

Pre-requisite before creating a Quote template for business

  • Make sure your Salesforce org is enabled for Salesforce CPQ.

  • Install the Salesforce CPQ package in your Salesforce org.

  • After installation, configure the CPQ settings in your org. This includes setting up products, price books, and other CPQ-related configurations.

  • Configure the quote line editor to specify which fields and information should be included when users create quotes.

  • Configure and customize the quote templates according to your branding and communication requirements. This involves defining the layout, logos, fonts, and styles.

Create Your First Quote Template In Salesforce CPQ

Open your Salesforce CPQ org. Let’s make a new quote template that will be the foundation for your work in later units. You start by navigating to the Quote Templates tab.

  • In the navigation bar, click Quote Templates and click New.

  • For Template Name, enter Avenoir Proposal, Check Default.

  • For Company Name, enter Avenoir Technologies.

  • For the Company Slogan, enter Always Winning!

  • For Company Phone, enter (650) 555-1212.

  • In this example, you skip the rest of the company information section, but in real life, it’s smart to include everything so it’s there when you need it.

  • For Shading Color enter CCEEFF. This is the hex code for a nice shade of blue that will help distinguish your new template from the existing one. Click Save.

Create template content with Template bottom

Use Salesforce CPQ’s standard bottom content for the quote template, including notes, dates, and final signature information.

Sections

Sections are blocks of information that contain a piece of template content. For example, you can create a template section record to handle the styling and positioning of your quote's line items. In this case, populate the section's Content field with a lookup to the template content you associated with your quote lines.
